About the Author

August Templar writes at the intersection of history, mystery, and adventure, exploring the forces the powerful often prefer to keep secret. His life has been shaped by extraordinary success, unexpected loss, and the pursuit of understanding that which has long been hidden. From an early age, he built businesses that pushed boundaries. He founded one of the first internet media publishing companies in Cambridge, England, and later created a hospitality group whose destination hotels and London private members’ club became celebrated gathering places for figures from music, film, publishing, and entertainment. “There is no one I would ever have wanted at my dining table who didn’t sit at one of them,” he says. In 2015, a near-fatal medical misdiagnosis changed everything, followed by years of damaging and false press allegations — perhaps a consequence of seeing and understanding more than most — leaving him rebuilding life by the sea in Salcombe, Devon, where a mystery quietly waiting for centuries began to reveal itself. Today, he writes from his desk overlooking Burgh Island, having seen firsthand what unfolds when truth and power collide.
